Which flute models are recommend for beginners?
As with all types of instruments there are always a lot of different opinions about which brand names and models are the best. There are however some brands that keeps getting mentioned when it comes to choosing a good beginner flute.
The flutes listed below sound great and are enjoyable to play for beginners. They are also very well build and if you take good care of them, they will very seldom need repairs. I have had my Pearl PF-505 flute for one and half year, I play it very often and never had a single problem it.
"Below I have listed models that are often recommended by flute teachers, music schools and by professional who repair or play the flute themselves"
Pearl beginner flutes
Perl flutes have a very clear tone and great action due to the French pointed arms and the pinless mechanism. This 505 student series is great and even though it is called a student series don't think that these flutes sound or feel cheap. All flutes from the Pearl 505 series are excellent have a great tone and are therefore my number one recommendation. I even think these flutes sound better than the more expensive Yamaha flutes. The Pearl flutes in the student series cost around $650.
Pearl Flutes Quantz 505 Series Student Flute with B-foot
Pearl Flutes 525 Series Intermediate Flute
Jupiter beginner flutes
Jupiter flutes are known for their build quality and fast action. Some think that the Jupiter flutes have a better tone than Pearl I do not agree. This does however not change that Jupiter flues are some of the best sounding flutes on the market. On a Jupiter flute the action is a little faster than on a Pearl. For a beginner a flute from the Jupiter series will be a great starting point. Their beginner flutes are in the same price range as Pearl. The Jupiter flutes in the student series also cost around $650.
Jupiter 511 Series Student Flute With B-Foot 511Rbs - Inline G
Jupiter 611 Series Intermediate Flute
Yamaha beginner flutes
For a long period Yamaha Flutes was almost the standard choice when it came to buying a beginner flute. In recent years a lot of other brand has comes along. This does not change the fact that Yamaha still produces excellent flutes. As with the flutes from Pearl and Jupiter the models listed below has a great tone and are build to last. The Yamaha flutes are however little more expensive than its two counterparts above. The Yamaha flutes in the Intermediate series cost around $1000.
Yamaha YFL-361 Series Intermediate Flute
Yamaha 381 Series Intermediate Flute
